Garden cress (Lepidium sativum Linn.), belong to Brassicaceae family, is a fast-growing, edible annual herb and considered as an important medicinal plant and widely grown in several countries. Cress, sometimes referred to as garden cress to distinguish it from similar plants also referred to as cress, is a rather fast-growing, edible herb. Garden cress is genetically related to watercress and mustard, sharing their peppery, tangy flavour and aroma. They are particularly high in Folate, Magnesium, Manganese, Potassium , Vitamins A, B-6, C and K. |

How Much Space Does Garden Cress Plants Need? Sow garden cress and curly cress seed ¼ inch (6.5mm) deep; sow seed thickly in wide rows; thin successful seedlings to 6 inches (15cm) apart. Space rows 18 to 24 inches (45-61cm) apart. Sow successive crops every 10 to 14 days. |

What Type Soil Does Garden Cress Like Curly and garden cress are best planted in a moist, well-drained sandy loam. Watercress should be placed in a container of sandy soil that is submerged in running water. All in all, cress prefers a pH that is not too acidic, with pH 6.0 to 6.8. |

Planting Instructions Garden cress is planted by seed. Sow the seeds by randomly scattering them over the planting area or by mass planting them in rows. Rows should be about 3-4 inches apart. Once seedlings have emerged, thin plants to 8-12 inches apart. |

Harvest Time At 15cm (6”) tall, harvest garden cress with scissors; it will grow back at least once. Start a new row or pot just before you harvest the first one, and repeat for the longest harvest. Store in the refrigerator, but not for more than two days. |
