How Much Space Do Cabbage Plants Need?

How to Grow Cabbage. When placing cabbage plants in your garden, be sure to space seedlings 12 to 24 inches (30-60 cm.) apart to give them plenty of room for growing large heads. Planting Instructions

Cabbage can be planted by hand or mechanically. For hand planting, the best tool is a home-made miniature hoe. As soon as the plants have 'taken', they should receive their first dressing of LAN.Plant spring cabbage 4 weeks before the last frost. Space your cabbage according to the guidelines on the plant tag, in an area that gets 6 or more hours of sun. Plant 1 to 2 inches deep in well-drained, fertile soil with a pH of 6.5 to 6.8.

Nutrients

Once cabbage plants have been transplanted into a prepared garden bed, continue applying cabbage fertilizer every three to four weeks until heads begin to form.
